Young Enterprise Market to Showcase Talent

Young entrepreneurs from schools and colleges across the South West will showcase their talent at the Guildhall Shopping Centre in Exeter on Saturday 24th March, when the centre hosts the Young Enterprise Exeter Trade Show.

For the past months budding entrepreneurs have been developing a wide range of innovative and exciting products. Young Enterprise has encouraged the youngsters to devise a product, produce it and then sell it, all within an eight-month period.

On 24th March participating school and college groups will take their products to a marquee in Market Square, Guildhall Shopping Centre, where they will use all their sales and marketing skills to convince the buying public to part with cash for their products.

Taking part are: Heles School, Plymouth, which has produced a range of electrical cases and accessories; Exeter School, which has created trendy socks; Colyton Grammar School which has developed t-shirts, acrylic signs and phone accessories; Exmouth College which will be selling Easter basket bundles and teddies; Plymouth College, which has designed  a Rail Trails publication; and Axe Valley Community College in Axminster, which has produced a range of fruit juice.

The participants will be judged by a panel of experts from the Guildhall Shopping Centre: the panel will be looking for teamwork, presentation, organisation, communication, innovation and, of course, enterprise. The winners will receive an award.

Andrew McNeilly, centre manager at the Guildhall Shopping Centre, commented: “This is the second year that we have hosted the Young Enterprise Exeter Trade Fair and we are delighted to welcome it to the centre again. We were impressed by the creativity, commitment and entrepreneurship demonstrated by the schools that took part last year, and we are hoping that the 2012 fair will be as impressive, if not more so.”

He added: “We hope that our shoppers will give the schools taking part a huge amount of support and business!”

The Exeter Trade Fair will take place in a marquee in Market Square, Guildhall Shopping Centre, on Saturday 24th March between 9am and 5pm.
